Industrial climber – projects

For an insight in our special field we like our project-gallery to speak for us. A few comments will explain the projects.

Advertising technique North-Rhine-Westphalia

Regularly, we face special challenges installing advertising technique in major urban centers like Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, or Cologne. And these challenges are different for every city center. With their high flexibility industrial climbers can take advantage of the low activity periods in the stores to exchange posters, banners, or flags.

Steelwork and metal construction German Mining Museum, Bochum

From preparation to placement.

Preparing the Detroit Project "How Love Could Be", our metalworkers designed in cooperation with a company for construction engineering, four mounting brackets for the illuminated piece of art. These mounting brackets are now holding the LED characters measuring 8m in length, 2.5m in height, and weighing 1.200kg.

The installation of the brackets, weighing 50kg each, by our industrial climbers at a height of 75m, was followed by the placement of the artwork on the museum. Due to a lack of space, it was not possible to pre-assemble the elements on the platform underneath. The biggest challenge was the precise positioning of the first element "How Love", weighing 600kg, above the second element "Could Be", using a chain hoist, and then connecting the two. The combination of little clearance and a floating load of 600kg made the project demanding. The following final placement and installation of the assembled elements with custom made steel ropes was then relatively easy. Alltogether a beautiful and very interesting project.

Advertising technique at "Kunsthalle Düsseldorf"

In addition to the installation of large posters, banners, and flags by hanging them up, advertising material can also be installed by adhesion. Our industrial climbers removed the banner of the "Quadrienale Düsseldorf 2014", which was fixed by adhesion, to cut down the costs for a scaffold.

Hurricane Ela Duesseldorf, Mettmann, Neuss, Duisburg

There was a big storm on June 09th, 2014 in North-Rhine-Westphalia which left lots of damages throughout the whole area. About 17.000 trees were uprooted only in Duesseldorf. Since then we are permanent booked for different type of operations. On private properties we are eliminating danger. Everywhere in the city, branches, tree crowns and whole trees are about to fall down because they are stuck on houses, other buildings or in other trees. The first priority is eliminating the threats which is mainly done by now. The scavenging work will be done later on. I the end of our work we will dispose the trees, garden pavilions and other broken goods so that tidiness will be back in our customers life and property. Seilkraft June 12th, 2014

Testing and Materials North Sea

Our certified material inspectors run non-destructive testings (NDT) on the piles that support offshore installations such as oil drilling platforms and wind power plants as is illustrated in the picture. Onshore, we are working with industry, where we run material tests for the documentation of maintenance, inspection and damages. As qualified industrial climbers, we provide access to otherwise unapproachable spots. Our focus in material testing includes ultrasound examination, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrance, visual inspection, and wall and coating thickness measurement.

Fire Protection Maintenance of smoke and fire detectors

Maintenance of safety equipment and devices in the Intercontinental Hotel Duesseldorf - Königsallee.

In the middle of the night, to garantee the ease and comfort of the hotel guests, our industrial climbers examined and upgraded parts of the smoke and fire alarm devices. Covered in paper suits and shoes and supplied with white gloves, the climbers carefully, hanging on ropes, moved along the interior decorations. Elegantly, they moved from detector to detector, and from reflector to reflector, without leaving a trace.

Facade Cleaning Duesseldorf Harbour, Duesseldorf Oberkassel

The list of different types of dirt is just as exhaustive as the different possibilites of how to clean the facade of a house. We can perform facade clean-ups with high-pressure washers and resin or osmotic systems, as well as cleaning your windows. In cleaning your windows, you can choose a lotus cleaning and special maintenance of the window frames. Using the resin-filter system or the osmotic system with deionized water, as shown here for the buildings in the harbours of Neuss and Duesseldorf, we completely avoid using any chemicals. The facade of your house will be cleaned gentle and environmentally conscious.

Rescue from heights - Training Course 10/2014 Cologne, Neuss, Duesseldorf

Our organization has great experience in working in situations involving depths and heights. Consequently,  as industrial climbers and trained to rescue from heights, we are also able to rescue people out of extremely difficult situations. Your organization can benefit from our profound knowledge collected in years of experience in one of our special trainings. As an example of what is involved, during the training for rescue from heights in October, our participants from Germany and Austria trained under various conditions for the rescue from dangerous and exceptional situations. After a theoretical introduction, the practical training started at an outdoor temperature of zero degrees Celsius. During another exercise a smoke machine was used to diminish the vision to under 30cm. Furthermore, dark rooms, narrow shafts, many stairways, noise, and wind were used to complicate the exercises that were only manageable as a team.

Dismantling of the Detroit-Project German Mining Museum, Bochum

Today, we dismantled the Detroit-Project, a declaration of love to the Ruhr area of Germany.  It is located on top of the German Museum of Industrial Coal Mining in Bochum. After surviving the hurricane Ela in June, the permit of our bomb-proof construction unfortunately expired and this piece of art had to be disassembled. Temporarily, the red characters saying "How Love Could Be" will now be exhibited in an art gallery. 11/03/2014

Restoration of a Tower Krefeld

During the restoration time of two weeks, defective jointings were mortised and renewed on a 40m high smokestack of an old factory in Krefeld. Our team met a special challenge, as the tower rises directly from a glass roof that had to be protected. This problem was solved by installing a high-strength safety net around the whole tower, forming a waste hold-up sack on the bottom. Additionally, screen mats and OSB boards were layed out and fitted to the shape of the tower. Following these preventative arrangements, materials and colours were chosen carefully, and our climbers were able to start the actual rejointing on the smokestack. In the end of the restoration the tower once again had uniform joints.

Industrial climbers in silos and containers according to BGR117 Bremen, Duesseldorf, Hamburg

Due to water penetration, operational changes of products, or defects in the material handling equipment, we regularly dispose product residues in silo installations. Our rope technique allows access and positioning of the climbers independent of scaffolds. Then, either manually or by industrial suction drains, the residues are removed completely and discarded. Once the conveyour is cleaned, nozzles, worm gear, etc. will be fotographed and exchanged. Illustrated in the pictures below is a silo that had to be cleaned of marble dust followed by an exchange of the jet nozzles. This was not a problem for our climbers wearing the respiratory equipment.

Working in a Shaft Düsseldorf City

Due to leakiness we exchanged two heating pipes in a narrow shaft during a construction phase of four weeks by disconnecting the old ones and hydraulically grouting the new pipes. To avoid further corrosion, we overhauled outdated pipes and exchanged their wet insulations in the 50m deep shaft in this office building in Düsseldorf. The complete project was executed by specifically trained workers, following BGR117 guidelines, to guarantee a high saftey standard including a possible rescue under these difficult conditions at any time.

Securing the curtains in the iSens UCI Kinowelt Duesseldorf, Media Harbour

Right before the weekend, a curtain in one of the cinema halls of the "UCI Kinowelt" was about to fall down. The view was disturbed by the towing ropes of the light shade hanging across the screen. To maintain the increased operation of the cinema on the weekend, we acted on short notice to fix the damage. The curtain was rearranged into the guide rack very carefully to protect the sensitive screen and the towing ropes were put back into position, such that the customer was able to operate the cinema hall in just time.
